History of the Village Hall
The Original Village Hall, or Hilperton Institute as it was called, was located in Hill Street before its current location in Whaddon Lane.
Unfortunately it was completely destroyed by fire in July 1939, the remains being mainly corrugated iron.
Besides the loss of a valuable community resource the village lost two billiard tables, a piano and a stage of new scenery.

These two pictures show local residents looking through the remains of the building and viewing its destruction.
The Village Hall was thereafter relocated to Whaddon Lane, and was officially opened in 1951. Below is a video of the opening ceremony and fete that was held at the hall.
